The Mureda Tempranillo 2013, oh so good.
With full disclosure, I must start by saying the hopes for this wine were high because it is made with 100% organic grapes. The very essence of Cabonnay is fresh, oasis, bliss and this wine sung to each one of our visions perfectly. Grown in Spain on a family owned vineyard that is the largest certified organic vineyard in the world, with just over 1200 acres of organic grapes. Anyone that cares this much about their product and the health of their consumers gets my support. The vines at Mureda have never been exposed to pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers, they produce a fresh, clean, organic, and beautiful wine. A wine so pure I could feel my insides glowing with delight as I casually sipped these virgin grapes.
This particular Tempranillo hails from the La Mancha region of Spain. A desert oasis that translates to “parched earth”, this region boasts high temps and the wines out of this region carry the characteristics of the sun. The Tempranillo grape thrives in a hot, sunny climate that has the ability to penetrate its thick skins, and ripen it to the core. Cooler nights balance out the natural acidity of this grape, and walla; you have an amazing Tempranillo in your glass.
I invite you to stare into your glass of Mureda Tempranillo, noticed the vibrant reds and deep maroons, these are the byproducts of the desert sun in the La Mancha region. Deep purples and sultry hues of red look almost too thick to swirl. It was as if my glass was coated in satin.
I could smell the essence of goodness and purity in the Mureda. I could smell the integrity of the vines griping the sterile soil, breathing the desert air and drinking from the clean earth. This wine was a puff of honesty, a mouthful of grapes, a subtle fruitful warrior, an unoffensive beauty. An oasis.
A wine that smells of cupcakes and righteousness had to deliver such caliber on flavor; it would be tragic if it couldn’t live up to its promises. Love at first sip, if that sort of thing exists, this wine was the perfect rhythm, a collection of flavors that meshed with each one of my tastebuds perfectly. A hint of lemon, a medley of fruits and a distance memory of tang. With a mouthful of illumination and a glowing tongue this wine finished nicely with almost no trace of acid yet; stood its ground with bold flavors.
The Mureda Tempranillo made with 100% organic grapes will dazzle you, tease you, and drench you in everlasting devotion. Enjoy!
