With the Cabonnay Emporium in full swing we are beyond excited to introduce our wine of the month. Each month the Emporium will feature a select wine, chosen for its flavor, story, seasonal pairing, or just because we love it. The wine will not only receive the Cabonnay stamp of approval, but will be featured on the blog, and highlighted in the Cabonnay Emporium.
This month we are featuring the Louis M. Martini 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine hails from Sonoma Valley, and is infused with a unique blend of Cabernet grapes from the Sonoma based vineyard as well as select grapes from prestigious partner vineyards in Alexander Valley. The growing season in 2013 was slightly warmer than a typical season which gives this particular year a rich and deep fruitful flavor.
Now into November and the allure of Thanksgiving approaching the Martini Cab was a perfect partner for this upcoming holiday season. The Martini Vineyards are deeply routed in American history, opening their doors in 1933 as one of the first wineries to open their doors after prohibition. Family owned and operated with Vineyards in Sonoma and Napa Valley, this winery has been a staple in the American wine industry. With a strong history in producing quality Cabernets, the Louis M. Martini is a sure-bet.
The Wine Review
When smelling this wine you are immediately immersed in a deep barrel of fruit. The kind of fruit that swirls through your nose, wrapping your spirit in warm plush blankets. With hints of cherry, plums, and candied apples this wine smells sweet, tart and delicious. The overall complexity of the wine’s aroma fills you with warmth and happy thoughts provoking images of being drenched in rose petals.
The taste throws your emotions into a wild spiral of disbelief. Shocked and parched by the utter, dry as a bone first sip, your tongue practically sings for relief. Don’t give up on this wine, just yet. Within seconds your frenzied tastebuds will be whisked away into a historical moment in time. A wine that begs to be drunk from a chalice and paired with a king sized drumstick. This wine is fit for a crowned head, full of worthiness and authenticity. A noble, spirited and raw delight, this wine surely will fulfill your worldly needs.
