CABONNAY AUTHOR: KIMBERLY
It is June in Southern New Hampshire and we are finally seeing some beautiful summer evenings. This particular evening was the outcome of a perfect 70’s weather day with just the right amount of breeze. The kind of night that is begging for fresh summer salads and grilled chicken on the barbecue. Tonight, I was craving a delicious, light, fun and summery wine that pairs with fresh vegetables and grilled chicken. I was lucky enough to have a bottle of 2011 Cuvée Alexandre Chardonnay on hand, and was ecstatic to taste this wine on this perfect night.
After uncorking this wine gave off a beautiful burst of fresh fruit. I poured myself a glass and enjoyed the fresh, crisp aroma that sprang from my glass. The wine smelled of a warm summer night and an abundance of fresh air. I allowed the wine to breath for just about five minutes before I took another whiff. Spices and apricots emerged like dancing fairies on flight from the glass. The entire experience took my senses to a tropical island.
The Cuvée Alexandre Chardonnay is vibrant and bright in color. It wore a golden hue with a tinged of pale green like a yellow pear ripe off the tree. The clarity was clear and bright. The wine gave off an inviting, alluring, appeal that beckoned to be drunk.
The wine was acidity with a strong and bold flavor. Powerful shards of fruit splash around in your mouth, fighting for an opportunity to shine. The flavors are long, and linger on your tastebuds for just the right amount of time. It finishes nicely, not to sweet, but hints of honeysuckle tease your tastebuds.
Overall, the Cuvée Alexandre Chardonnay was a wonderful experience, a powerful wine that maneuvers with grace. I appreciate the fact that this wine is 100% certified organic. The Chardonnay grapes were harvested from the Casablanca Valley, Lapostolle Atalayas Vineyard, Chile. (reference: en.lapostolle.com)
